    JCHS Learn From Home - Open House Plan

    1.  Schedules will be released to students electronically Monday, 8-3-2020. (Check Powerschool Portal)

    2. A schedule change form will be available on the Jefferson County High School website on Monday, 8-3-2020. This form will close on Friday 8-7-2020. No schedule changes are guaranteed. 

    1. ONLY IF NEEDED (not required) parents and/or students may visit the school at the following times to receive a hard copy of their schedule and ONLY IF NEEDED checkout a Chromebook device.

      Wednesday, August 5th 10:00am - 2:00pm

      Thursday, August 6th 2:00pm - 6:00pm 

    1. On Friday, August 7th parents and students can visit their teacher's online Google classroom for virtual open house information from their teacher. Teachers will invite students to the Google classroom through student email prior to Friday, August 7th.

    1. Parents may schedule an in person meeting with a teacher by contacting the school and scheduling an appointment (478-625-9991). It is not required or mandatory to have an in person meeting. 

    1. Learning from home will begin on Monday, August 10th. Students will be required to check their google classrooms for instruction and assignments and communicate with teachers.

    2. Before students return to in-person, face to face learning, we would like to schedule an in-person freshman open house and possibly a school wide open house.


    At this time, the earliest date that students will return to school is Wednesday, September 9th. The following documents explain the JCHS dress code and cell phone policy that have been developed by JCHS stakeholders and supported by the Jefferson County Board of Education.

    JCHS Graduation Celebration

    Please read the information below and watch the video with details about the JCHS Graduation Celebration:

    On Saturday our seniors will participate in graduation at JCHS. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 am. Each senior and his/her family is allowed one car. The car should enter the student parking lot near the tennis court and follow the signs and/or person giving directions. There will be a check-in tent located along the path where the senior will receive some of his/her graduation memorabilia. Then the car will travel to the stage. Near the staging area the senior will exit the car and walk to the table to be introduced. The driver of the senior's family car will be asked to pull up to a spot where they can see, photograph and video. The senior will be introduced and he/she will walk across the staging area for photos/video and greetings by Dr. Howard and Dr. Long. The senior will return to his family car and exit the parking lot. This process will be repeated until every senior has received his/her diploma. This ceremony ends at 11:00am. There will be no graduation practice.

    Rules and Guidelines for the Celebration:

    • You must have completed all graduation requirements to participate.  

    • You must be in your full Cap and Gown to participate.

    • Only 1 car per graduate.

    • Only the graduate will be allowed to get out of the car.

    • Gates open at 8:15am and close at 11:00am.
