Mr. Grant Davis

Mr. Grant Davis began his teaching career at Jefferson County High School (JCHS) in 2020 teaching Concert Band and Marching Band. Prior to coming to JCHS, Mr. Davis worked as a brass and visual instructor with the marching bands at Lanier High School (Sugar Hill, GA), Gainesville High School (Gainesville, GA), Johnson High School (Gainesville, GA), and Lumpkin County High School (Dahlonega, GA). In addition, he also spent an extensive amount of time teaching Private Lessons at East Hall Middle School (Gainesville, GA), Gainesville Middle School (Gainesville, GA), Rabun County High School (Tiger, GA), and at a private lessons studio. Mr. Davis student taught at Gainesville Middle School under Mr. Craig Bailey and Mr. Joey Forbes and at North Hall High School under Mr. Kevin Carwile. Along with many other current band directors, Mr. Davis has also studied with retired band directors, including Col. John R Bourgeois (US Marine Corps Director), Dr. John Culvahouse, Heath Lawless, Mercer Crook, and Richard Brasco.

Mr. Davis received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of North Georgia (UNG). At UNG, he studied trumpet with Ms. Sarah Dunn, Mr. Alex Rodiek and Mr. Andy David. He also studied conducting with Dr. Ashley Jarrell. During his tenure, he was an inaugural member and served as principal trumpet of the UNG Gainesville Brass Quintet. He was also an active participant in the UNG Symphonic Band, UNG Wind Ensemble, UNG Brass Ensemble, UNG Indoor Winds, UNG Nighthawk Pep Band, and the UNG Gainesville Chorus. He held the principal trumpet seat of both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble simultaneously for a short time. Mr. Davis was also an inaugural member and vice president of the band council for both major instrumental ensembles at UNG. Mr. Davis also served as band captain, principal trumpet, and lead recruiter for the Kingsmen Indoor Winds. His affiliations include Drum Corps International (DCI), Georgia Indoor Percussion Association (GIPA), Southern Association for the Performing Arts (SAPA), and Winter Guard International (WGI.)

Mr. Davis is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). At JCHS, he serves as band director, general music teacher, and advisor of the music division of the Fine Arts Pathway in Music. Additionally, he serves as the advisor for the music division of the Fine Arts Diploma Seal (FADS) and is the assistant director and technical specialist for the JCHS theater program (Warrior Players.) At UNG, he served as an active member of the UNG chapter of cNAfME. He is a recipient of the John and Margaret Chromartie Excellent Musicianship Scholarship. Currently, he serves as an ensemble member in the Savannah River Winds and the Augusta Concert Band. Additionally, he serves as principal trumpet for the Exaltation! Orchestra of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville in Gainesville, GA. 

Currently Mr. Davis resides in Grovetown, GA with his two cats, Clara Schumann and Dmitri Shostakovich.
